Weymouth is Our Hometown
The town of Weymouth is named after Weymouth, Dorset, a coastal town in England. Weymouth is the second oldest town in the Commonwealth, developed as a trading post not long after the Pilgrims landed in Plymouth. Weymouth is also home to the house where Abigail Adams, wife of President John Adams and mother to President John Quincy Adams, was born. In 1922 Weymouth Hospital, which is now known as South Shore Hospital opened its doors for the 15,000 residents within the town. The hospital and the town have flourished and many residents find Weymouth the ideal hometown for commuting to nearby Boston.
